An experienced content producer and social media community manager with the ability to craft content that meets the needs to customers and consumers

With several years of experience working with small and large companies, including news agencies and a government transportation agencies, I am reliable in creating and managing content and social media that simplifies the complicated and creates satisfied outcomes for my employers and audiences.

Experience

Bramptonist — News Editor/Reporter — January 2016-Present

Collaborating with four other editors, I research, create, and published news content for a media organization focused on the core subject of Brampton, Canada and its residents.

  • Report on municipal and planning news relevant to Bramptonist readers, crafting blog content based on the seriousness and tone of the story

  • Translate data into compelling and easy-to-understand visuals, such as interactive maps and graphs

  • Assisting other editors and contributors in locating resources and understanding technical reports for other content

Toronto Transit Commission — Senior Customer Service Representative— February 2017-October 2017

Working with five other senior representatives, and supervising 10+ phone representatives, I was responsible for answering customer communications for Canada's largest public transportation agency in Toronto on social media and email.

  • Communicated resolutions to customer inquiries and suggestions via Twitter (@TTCHelps) and through hand-crafted emails

  • Liaised with other departments across the TTC and other municipal agencies (Metrolinx, City of Toronto, PRESTO) to investigate and resolve customer queries

  • Developed expert understanding of technical terminology in order to be able to translate into an easier-to-understand format for customers and other staff members

  • Assisted junior staff members in crafting appropriate communications and resolving escalated calls and situations

OneBrampton — Communications, founding member — July 2015-July 2016 [Volunteer]

I was a founding member and communications volunteer for the civic advocacy group focused on transportation issues, primarily a major campaign to convince Brampton's city council to accept funding for a regional rapid transit line. My responsibilities included the production of written and graphic content to appeal to local politicians and citizens, as well as research efforts and social media management.

Excalibur — Executive Editor (Online), Copy Editor— May 2013-April 2015

Co-managing with one other senior editor, and leading 10 other junior editors, I was responsible for all online content management and engagement for a campus publication at York University, Canada's second largest university. Previously, I was Copy Editor and was in charge of all copy and substantive editing, with one assistant.

Imprint — Senior Reporter, News Editor, Copy Editor — February 2010-August 2012

Starting as a proofreader, I soon became a senior news reporter and held two editor positions (copy, and then news) at the campus publication at the University of Waterloo, regularly collaborating with 25+ other volunteers and staff members.

I created at least three pieces of written and/or visual content per week as a reporter and news editor, managed breaking news on social media, and was in charge of editing of 24-page weekly newspaper as copy editor.
